Travis Tritt Headlines 2013-2014 PACE Season

The PACE Center in Parker CO is thrilled to announce that Travis Tritt will headline the 2013-2014 Mainstage season with a concert on September 19, 2013. The season also brings several other national touring acts, including comedy sensations Second City and Colin Quinn, international jazz artist Jonathan Batiste, and the award-winning Leahy’s. PACE will also bring family favorite Peter Pan to the stage, with full flying effects.

America's famed comedy troupe, The Second City, is coming to Parker in October with The Best of The Second City. From the company that launched the careers of Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray and more, comes the next generation of the comedy world’s best and brightest in an evening of hilarious sketch comedy and Second City’s trademark improvisation. With scripted and improvisational elements, audiences always enjoy being part of the show.

Jonathan Batiste, coming to PACE in November, is an iconic artist, unique in this generation. With his voice on piano and dapper sense of style, he has ignited the NYC music scene. He has performed in over 40 countries, has appeared in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and The Kennedy Center, and has collaborated with Wynton Marsalis, Prince, Jimmy Buffett, Harry Connick Jr, Roy Hargrove, Cassandra Wilson, and filmmaker Spike Lee among others.

Audiences can start the holidays with Leahy Christmas on the day after Thanksgiving. The Leahy’s are a Canadian powerhouse of eight musical brothers and sisters who have been playing together their entire lives. This family of instrumentalists, singers, and dancers brings a rare level of originality and musicianship to the stage, garnering numerous awards — Junos for Best New Group, Best Country Group, and Best Instrumental Album, the most played folk/roots song in Canada in 2004 and the Socan award for Folk/Jazz instrumentalist the following year.

In Long Story Short, next February, Colin Quinn focuses his “articulate brand of comedy” on the demise of empires, including our own. More than standup comedy, Long Story Short is a hilarious blend of incisive observation, sharp commentary, and Colin’s channeling of the personalities of the past. From Socrates to Snooki, Quinn is at his satirical best, taking on the attitudes, appetites and bad habits that toppled the world’s most powerful nations. The New York Post said “Historical and hysterical.” Variety called it “Genius.”

Next season PACE will continue its successful partnership with Starkey Productions, which brought this season’s Little Shop of Horrors and Always…Patsy Cline. In October, Starkey will produce Bingo” a splashy, fun new musical comedy in which audiences will be laughing in the aisles when they aren't playing games of bingo along with the cast! And in January, Starkey brings a 12-show run of the classic musical Peter Pan, in which Peter and friends take full flight. Tickets to this family favorite will be a great holiday gift.

Holiday traditions are big in Parker, so the PACE  holiday line-up again includes the Colorado Symphony’s Drums of the World, A Classic Parker Holiday with Parker Symphony and Parker Chorale and Nutcracker of Parker by the Colorado School of Dance.

Also on the Mainstage calendar: award-winning Scottish folk singer Julie Fowlis, eclectic chamber ensemble Sybarite5, and the return of Celtic Nights. Plus, PACE continues to present the best music, dance and theater of the region, with The Denver Brass, Wonderbound (formerly Ballet Nouveau), and Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado. More touring and local shows may be added to the Mainstage season during the year.

Next season adds three Sunday Casual Classics concerts featuring local professional musicians in an intimate and acoustically superb performance space. Audiences will interact with the musicians and enjoy a glass of wine as part of the ticket price.

For the first time, the PACE Center is offering four season subscription packages: Comedy, Theater/Dance, Popular Music, and Classical Music. The 2013-2014 subscription series packages start at just $87 for four or more shows,

Great Performance at the PACE Center!

Last Friday I was able to see "Jacob and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at the Parker Pace Center.  Its produced by a company called Inspire Creative that basically is in the entertaining business and puts on high quality shows like this all over Colorado.  I thought it was excellent and would highly recommend it to anyone!  I had heard the music but never seen the story played out on stage, so it was cool.  Some amazing voices in this show!

The last shows are this Friday and Saturday. The tickets are $20 and it is well worth your money.  You can get tickets here.

"Annie" at the PACE Center is a MUST SEE Event!

There is only one show left and its tomorrow at 2PM.  Once again, the PACE Center wows us again with incredible talent and productions.  The singing and sets were awesome and there is just a lot of talent throughout the show.  Trust me you won't be disappointed!  It's worth the price of admission and then some.

The PACE Center is a wonderful amentity for Parker CO.  It hosts its OWN Orchestra (the Parker Symphony,) its own Dance company (Apex Contemporary Dance Theater,) its own Choir (the Parker Chorale,) and its own Theater Company.

Culture in Our Back Yard

Talk about great PR!  This article by the Denver Post shows that we have ARRIVED with the Parker Arts and Cultural Center (known as the PACE Center.)  If you haven't experienced this great local amenity you really need to.  It is the heart and sole of the Arts in Parker CO, and any community needs this kind of "anchor" to give it a sense of self purpose and pride.  The Lonetree Arts Center also looks wonderful, and is only a quck 15 minute drive from Parker, which beats driving downtown Denver anytime!!

"Country Is" is NOT TO MISS at the PACE Center

The World Premier of "Country Is"

Sooo many thoughts…

I was blown away.  This isn't a show for people that just like Country music.  This is a CONCERT for anyone that respects pure talent, for anyone that respects excellent singing, for anyone that loves to be entertained.  This CONCERT was visually stunning and incredibly entertaining.  The band was exceptional, and the sound and acoustics in the PACE Center are really unbelievable.  Each one of those singers is incredibly talented by themselves, but put them all together and it's magic.  It was choreographed wonderfully.  The set was cool.  The lighting changed constantly and completely changed the feel of each song.  It was a pure joy.  I'm not even a country music fan personally, but I found myself tapping my feet and clapping to numerous songs and basically sitting there completely enjoying the performance and forgetting about time and forgetting about life outside of the theater.  I was swept away.  There is no way anyone will come out of this with any regrets.  It's 100% worth the cost of admission.  It's 150% worth the cost of admission.

"Country Is" at the new PACE Center

So if you like Country Music, there is a new musical centered around all different types of country music at the PACE Center in Parker.  Its a CUSTOM ORGINAL musical produced just for Parker CO and the PACE Center.  It will run for 2 weeks so make sure you get your tickets.  The premier is tonight and there will be a big gala affair called "Hot Country Nights" so it should be pretty exciting to see!

Vienna Boys Choir in Parker CO?

The Vienna Boys Choir performed at the PACE Center on Friday and it was wonderful.  What was interesting to me was that it wasn't a large group...only 25 boys...but man they could belt it out!  I was at the very top of the theater and it was plenty loud when they hit those high notes...a sign the acoustics are working very well.  If there were 50 of them they'd break your ear drums!  The pianist/leader of the group could really play the piano too.  Very awesome performance.

PACE Center continues to EXCITE!

I attended the first performance of the Parker Symphony Orchestra on Sunday at the PACE Center.  That's right!  Parker CO has their own symphony orchestra for crying out loud!  I thought it was really an awesome performance and hope that someday most of Parker gets to experience it first-hand.  I thought the conductor was first rate, and the first violin guy was exceptional.  The two even traded places for a special Four Seasons/Vivaldi performance and you'd never know the difference...either one could fit into either role!  I've never seen that before.

The Parker Symphony Orchestra has several shows planned throughout the year, each with different themes.  Next up is the Christmas show on December 7th with the Legend High School choir! I gotta see how they cram a symphony and 100 kids on the same stage!

Parker's PACE Center opens this weekend!

This is really exciting for Parker!  We now have a venue right in our own backyards that can seat 530 people and a host of other events like receptions, meetings, dance classes, computer classes etc.  As the momentum builds, it will be exciting to see people driving to little ol' Parker CO to see a show!  The PACE Center stands for Parker Arts, Culture and Events Center, and it will become the heart of Parker's Arts and Entertainment offerings, and will add CULTURE to Parker's many lists of features!  Will it attract homebuyers?  Will it help Parker CO house prices?  Not likely.  But it certainly adds presitige to Parker and is an amenity that is hard to put a price tag on, like a Rec Center or a park.  It will certainly make Parker more marketable no question!  Let's get the BUZZ going!

Here is the history behind the center and the creativity of the design of it.

And of course there is a Facebook page if you want to become a fan!
