The PACE Center in Parker CO is thrilled to announce that Travis Tritt will headline the 2013-2014 Mainstage season with a concert on September 19, 2013. The season also brings several other national touring acts, including comedy sensations Second City and Colin Quinn, international jazz artist Jonathan Batiste, and the award-winning Leahy’s. PACE will also bring family favorite Peter Pan to the stage, with full flying effects.
America's famed comedy troupe, The Second City, is coming to Parker in October with The Best of The Second City. From the company that launched the careers of Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray and more, comes the next generation of the comedy world’s best and brightest in an evening of hilarious sketch comedy and Second City’s trademark improvisation. With scripted and improvisational elements, audiences always enjoy being part of the show.
Jonathan Batiste, coming to PACE in November, is an iconic artist, unique in this generation. With his voice on piano and dapper sense of style, he has ignited the NYC music scene. He has performed in over 40 countries, has appeared in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and The Kennedy Center, and has collaborated with Wynton Marsalis, Prince, Jimmy Buffett, Harry Connick Jr, Roy Hargrove, Cassandra Wilson, and filmmaker Spike Lee among others.
Audiences can start the holidays with Leahy Christmas on the day after Thanksgiving. The Leahy’s are a Canadian powerhouse of eight musical brothers and sisters who have been playing together their entire lives. This family of instrumentalists, singers, and dancers brings a rare level of originality and musicianship to the stage, garnering numerous awards — Junos for Best New Group, Best Country Group, and Best Instrumental Album, the most played folk/roots song in Canada in 2004 and the Socan award for Folk/Jazz instrumentalist the following year.
In Long Story Short, next February, Colin Quinn focuses his “articulate brand of comedy” on the demise of empires, including our own. More than standup comedy, Long Story Short is a hilarious blend of incisive observation, sharp commentary, and Colin’s channeling of the personalities of the past. From Socrates to Snooki, Quinn is at his satirical best, taking on the attitudes, appetites and bad habits that toppled the world’s most powerful nations. The New York Post said “Historical and hysterical.” Variety called it “Genius.”
Next season PACE will continue its successful partnership with Starkey Productions, which brought this season’s Little Shop of Horrors and Always…Patsy Cline. In October, Starkey will produce Bingo” a splashy, fun new musical comedy in which audiences will be laughing in the aisles when they aren't playing games of bingo along with the cast! And in January, Starkey brings a 12-show run of the classic musical Peter Pan, in which Peter and friends take full flight. Tickets to this family favorite will be a great holiday gift.
Holiday traditions are big in Parker, so the PACE holiday line-up again includes the Colorado Symphony’s Drums of the World, A Classic Parker Holiday with Parker Symphony and Parker Chorale and Nutcracker of Parker by the Colorado School of Dance.
Also on the Mainstage calendar: award-winning Scottish folk singer Julie Fowlis, eclectic chamber ensemble Sybarite5, and the return of Celtic Nights. Plus, PACE continues to present the best music, dance and theater of the region, with The Denver Brass, Wonderbound (formerly Ballet Nouveau), and Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado. More touring and local shows may be added to the Mainstage season during the year.
Next season adds three Sunday Casual Classics concerts featuring local professional musicians in an intimate and acoustically superb performance space. Audiences will interact with the musicians and enjoy a glass of wine as part of the ticket price.
